Food Supplement Recalled

Recall of Musclepharm Assault Hybrid Series Supplement Due to the Presence of Elevated Levels of Nicotinic Acid
All batches Musclepharm has confirmed to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland FSAI that all flavours of the above product contain 25 mg / serving of niacin, in the form of nicotinic acid.
This product is advertised as a "Complete Pre-Workout for Athlete"
- Consuming this product may present a risk to health as the tolerable upper intake level for nicotinic acid is 10mg/day, according to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
- Over consumption of niacin / nicotinic acid at levels greater than 10 mg per day may cause vasodilation (widening of the blood vessels) and flushing, leading to hypotensive episodes (low blood pressure).
- Consumers are advised not to consume the implicated supplement. Anyone who has consumed this supplement and is feeling unwell should seek medical advice.
